You'd think this was SoCal but I'm in Shenzhen S.A.R. China just north of Hong Kong. We come here for a bargain weekend. Counterfeit currency is so rampant it takes a few minutes for every transaction not to mention I'm a walking target for a mugging which by many accounts can happen in broad daylight in the midst of crowds. But I love the thill of urban warfare tourism so I'm having a ball. Plenty of free wifi so I can Moblog. Now I'm off to find a tailor.

Life is Good
I know this has nothing to do with the inauguration but can a person be so lucky? Right after leaving DC I flew to Hong Kong then to the Philippines to scuba dive. Yesterday we were way too close to a venomous sea snake then today it was SHARKS! OMG! I will post pics and video asap. But let's just say that this tops my African safaris in terms of shear thrill factor. Undoubtedly the most exciting experience of my life. I always measure these moments if thoughts of my childhood in Eagle Pass flash through my head. This rarely happens. First day in the Governor's Office, the first nighttime African safari; hiking the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. And about an hour ago, watching sharks in a reef cave in the Philippines.

At the Southern Regional Ball
For someone who loves history, I experienced occassional waves of emotion. This was one of them, conscious of the fact that this day and evening would be talked about and documented for centuries. I reminded Diana that her great-great-great grandchildren would know about this event and would imagine what it was like. Seeing our new President dancing with Michele was very touching.
